The Mercer County Dispatch Center is
responsible for answering all emergency and
non-emergency calls to the Sheriff's Office.
Our
dispatch center also carries out all the dispatching
of police, fire and medical calls within Mercer
County as well as dispatching local resources and
first responders to other jurisdictions as requested
by mutual aid agreements.
In 2011 our communication center was responsible
for answering
(number) calls to the
Sheriff's Office.
The Mercer County Jail is
responsible for the housing and welfare of all
subjects arrested within Mercer County. We also
contract with the (other counties) to
house their inmates.
County Corrections Officers
are certified by the North Dakota State Criminal
Justice Training Commission and crossed
trained/certified in Telecommunications &
Dispatching. In 2011 County Corrections Officers
performed (number) bookings, giving us a daily
housing average (number) of inmates.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit
provides assistance and support to all patrol units
within Mercer County as well as other law
enforcement agencies as requested for the purpose of
narcotics detection, back-up, searches,and any
other law enforcement needs that may arise.
K-9 teams may be deployed
anywhere within the county and will remain available
to provide assistance during their regular duty
hours. They also support the patrol units in
emergency calls for service including building
searches, officer assistance, and crowd control.
