Museum News

2006 has seen many new donations and additions, the creation of new exhibit displays, and enhancements and rearrangements of existing displays in the museum. Some of these are detailed below. Also look at the new additions to our Photo Gallery.

The original museum (Jefferies building) was painted green to be historically accurate.

The driveway to the Print Shop (the old firehall) and flower beds were removed to prepare for the new American Legion Veterans' Memorial to be built in the front of the Jefferies building.

A Gem and Mineral collection was received from the Evert and Nettie Nelson estate.

Military uniforms and related articles were incorporated into a new display sponsored by the Washburn American Legion Post.

The photographic equipment and bridal attire displays were restructured.

Currently in progress are development of a beekeeping display and the digital recording of photographs.

Ongoing projects include archiving the newspaper collection and compiling a county obituary file.
