Welcome to our site! Situated along the banks of the historic Missouri River, Washburn, North Dakota , is the home of Boy Scout Troop 79. First established in 1914 by English immigrant Rev. J.C.N. Pengelly, Troop 79 is believed to be the first troop organized in North Dakota, and has been chartered continuously since 1929. Troop 79 is sponsored by the Washburn Lions Club and meets on the first and third Sundays of the month, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, at the scout room in the Washburn Memorial Hall. Meetings focus on working on requirements to earn merit badges. Troop Committee meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month at the same time and place. Troop activities include summer camping in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, camping and hiking in the North Dakota Badlands, snow skiing, swimming, bowling, community service, and other various outdoor activities.
